On May 1st Grand Knights Chess Academy proudly hosted Grandmaster Kayden Troff for an unforgettable evening of chess mastery. The event featured a lecture about the game between Karpov and Spassky at the candidates in 1974 (this was right before Karpov became world champion). He discussed that calculation is not the only skill in chess and how figuring out where to place the pieces and what exchanges to make are essential to converting advantages. Following the lecture GM Troff Simuled chess players.

Attendees enjoyed complementary pizza, refreshments, and drinks, making the evening both intellectually stimulating and socially engaging.

Kayden Troff, a former U.S under 21 Champion, achieved his Grandmaster title at just 16 years old, making history as Utah’s first homegrown GM. His deep understanding of chess, combined with his passion for teaching, made this event a true learning experience for all attendees.
