On Saturday, February 7th, Grand Knights Chess Academy hosted the Bellevue Schools Foundation Fundraising Chess Tournament. It was a high-energy day that blended strategy and community spirit to support our local schools.
A Full House and a Full Heart
The academy was buzzing as players from across Bellevue participated in a 4-round NWRS-rated Swiss state qualifier. Students of all levels demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, knowing their participation directly benefited their peers across the district.
Special Workshop and Q&A
Coach Wendy Rupple, who has over 30 years of experience teaching chess to children, delivered a special workshop on the positive effects of chess on child development.
Chess for a Cause
This fundraiser had a significant impact, with 100% of registration fees donated directly to the Bellevue Schools Foundation. These funds support programs that promote equity and expand learning opportunities throughout all Bellevue schools. Thanks to the incredible turnout, the event was a tremendous success.
A Welcoming Community Experience
The day featured a warm, inclusive atmosphere where families could connect. With pizza, face painting, and various activities, the event perfectly balanced competition with camaraderie.
Celebrating Our Players
We are proud of every student who joined us. Their focus and resilience made the day unforgettable, proving once again that chess builds confidence and community.
Looking Ahead
Grand Knights Chess Academy remains committed to using chess as a bridge to support our schools and empower young minds. We look forward to hosting more events that uplift our community.
Thank you to every family, volunteer, and student who made this tournament a success.
